Sarah Jauzion and Cindy Guyon, both 17 years apart, met at work and have been almost inseparable for the past three years. In June next year, they will participate in the Corsica Raid Femina as “La Sudiste et la Bretonne”. Beyond this sporting challenge lies a story of friendship, regained confidence, and self-transcendence.

“I wanted to change her mindset, to boost her confidence. So I told her: let’s go for it, let’s do it,” Sarah Jauzion recalls the birth of their project, which seems to have started on a whim. However, behind this spontaneous decision, there is a deeply human adventure.

From June 23 to 27, the 23-year-old Sarah Jauzion will participate in the Corsica Raid Femina with her 40-year-old friend and colleague Cindy Guyon. This all-female multisport challenge on the island of Corsica combines trail running, mountain biking, kayaking, canyoning, orienteering, and rope challenges. But for the two women, the real challenge goes far beyond the sport. “Cindy is going through a complicated divorce. I knew that this adventure could do her good,” Sarah confides.

The two women met three years ago in Nantes, where they both work in the hotel and restaurant industry. They quickly bonded over their love for sports. Their duo, named “La Sudiste et la Bretonne,” perfectly reflects their story: Sarah, born in Castres before moving to Nantes; Cindy, originally from Brittany. Despite the 17-year age gap, they share a strong desire to push themselves together.

“We saw videos of the Corsica Raid Femina on Instagram and we thought: why not us?” Sarah smiles. “What we liked is that it’s not just running. It’s diverse, physical, but above all very human.”

Established over twenty years ago by Femina Adventure, the Corsica Raid Femina brings together hundreds of participants each year around self-transcendence and solidarity. The event also supports the La Marie Do association, adding even more meaning to the project.

For several weeks now, their daily life revolves around training, as well as fundraising efforts. To participate in the raid, the duo needs to raise nearly 6,000 euros. “We started a bit last minute,” Sarah admits with a laugh. “But we’ve already raised about 3,400 euros, so it’s huge!” From sponsors to support events to social media communication, the two friends are taking various initiatives to reach their goal.

Between crossfit training for Sarah and trail running sessions for Cindy, the two women are experiencing an incredible chain of solidarity. “Honestly, this adventure is already bringing us so much,” Sarah smiles. “I promised her it would change her mindset… and in the end, it’s changing both of our mindsets.”

In June, amidst the Corsican mountains, “La Sudiste et la Bretonne” will seek much more than just a finish line: a pause, a new breath, and perhaps “a beautiful comeback in life.”
