Atletico Madrid will rely on Antoine Griezmann for their last European match at the Wanda Metropolitano. Facing Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final, Atletico will aim to avoid a repeat of their 4-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium last October. They will need a strong performance in front of their fans before the return leg in London.
In the first leg of this Champions League semi-final – Atletico’s first in nine years – Diego Simeone has selected a striking duo of Griezmann and Julian Alvarez. Griezmann, still chasing a Champions League title after his 2016 disappointment, will lead the attack alongside Alvarez, with Jan Oblak guarding the goal as usual.
On Arsenal’s side, Mikel Arteta has chosen a 4-2-3-1 formation. David Raya will be in goal behind a defensive line of Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Piero Hincapie.
