Albi hosted its first Footgolf Cup Open in 2026 on April 11 and 12.
How did the weekend go?
“We only received positive feedback. The course was considered technical and varied. It was well thought out and the players enjoyed themselves. Cédric Bonnot, former world number 1, was present and praised this course as the most beautiful in France. In addition to golf, the setting was highly appreciated in the city of Albi. The Federation president was impressed by this success and is considering hosting the French team playing in the World Cup next year. It should be noted that about ten internationals were present at this Open.”
Personally, do you benefit from playing at home?
“I know the course by heart. It’s where I train every week so it was an advantage for me, but great players don’t need much time to adapt to the terrain. I had the right legs at the right time and finished 2nd overall but 1st in my category. Additionally, I set my personal record. Finally, this allows me to qualify for the national final. Beyond the results, it was especially enjoyable to play against international players and show a good image of the club and the city. I take this opportunity to thank the Albi golf club, which is an essential partner.”
You just returned from the French Cup, how was the experience?
“It was our first participation and we all had a great time. Certainly, from a sports perspective, it was tough but we had the privilege of playing against Gex, the best French club made up of professional players. We learn a lot in this kind of competition and we had some wonderful encounters with very humble people. That’s what we took away from this gathering organized in Vichy. Beautiful sensations and an emotional weekend. We are proud to represent Albi and prove that we belong at the National level. In fact, some curious spectators came to watch us play at our Open and we should have additional players next season.”
