Thierry Henry paid a beautiful tribute to Antoine Griezmann on Tuesday night. Despite a 2-1 defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final second leg (2-0 victory in the first leg), Atletico Madrid qualified for the semi-finals. Once again, Griezmann played a key role!
Shortly after the match, Griezmann was stopped by several media outlets including CBS Sports. As his interview was ending, Henry, in French, addressed him not with a question but with a big tribute. A legend of French football to another!
“Antoine, thank you for everything you have done for French football, for the national team, and simply for football,” Henry said. “You delighted me. Finish well with Atletico and good luck in Orlando. And if you need anything, I know the MLS,” he added.

This was a reference to Griezmann’s upcoming move to Orlando in the MLS after playing his final matches with Madrid.
“Thank you, coming from you, a French legend, it touches me,” responded the French international with 137 caps for the national team. “Hats off!” concluded Thierry Henry. A nice exchange between two World Cup champions – in 1998 for Henry and 2018 for Griezmann.
