Each summer is marked by an accessory, a fashionable item of clothing, it’s inevitable. But it seems that another accessory wants to share the podium: the bandana, which we have seen on American personalities like Hailey Bieber and Zendaya. But why do they all fall for him?
An immortal accessory
When we think of the return of the bandana, we all have the same image in mind: the Paisley patterned bandana, available in multiple colors. It has never really left the wardrobes since its popularization, notably in Hip-Hop or R&B clips from the 2000s, or before that on Renaud’s shoulders. Everyone keeps one in the back of their wardrobe and we still bring them out today at festivals.
Why this success? Nostalgia for the 2000s, which is confirmed by trend after trend on social networks and even on haute couture fashion shows. We recall that Gucci has really contributed, in recent years, to reintroducing it, even in chic outfits this time. And it’s clear that it’s coming back with a bang this summer, particularly on TikTok where the simple hashtag #bandana has more than 413,000 publications.
How to wear the bandana?
There are two uses that we find on social networks. The beautystas fold it to wear it headband style, this headband very popular in recent years, while the purists put it in the old fashioned way. That is to say, on the head with the bow at the back, as do certain stars including Zendaya, Kendall Jenner, or even Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber. These ambassadors of the “clean girl” era wear it almost systematically with a natural look, without makeup and with volatile hair that does not appear hairstyles.
In this sense, the bandana also appears as a “cover-up” trick when you have foamy hair, not styled, or not very clean, but you want a beautiful hairstyle between two shampoos. Obviously, it also stands out as the beach look par excellence, which inevitably makes the link with the “mermaid” trend of a few years ago.
