“This film was shot in June and July 2025 in Strasbourg, but also Schiltigheim and Oberhausbergen,” recalls director Léo Grandperret, who signs with Become awesome his first feature film. A perfect Alsatian setting for Manu Payet, alias Mathias, a teacher who, with the support of a Franco-German twinning committee, orchestrates a school trip to get closer to his daughter…
“My daughter, the real one, aged 9, helped me recite my lines,” confides the actor. “She was in Paris and I was here, and every evening I told her about the shoot. This is the first time I’ve shared a film with her! So much so that in My daughter magazine, she gave the film four stars with the mention “I’m proud of my father!†, quips the actor to recall how Become awesomewants to be family friendly.
A “tribute to the teachers”
In addition to the technical team, many of the teenagers who play in the film are Alsatian. A duty of remembrance assured and a nod to Franco-German relations when we go back to the history of Alsace. This comedy plays on twinning on all levels to also honor the teaching staff and awaken some memories. “This film pays homage to the teachers in some way,” says actress Marie-Julie Baup. “To these teachers who spend their lives with our children as well as to these teachers that I have met in my life and who, for some, made me want to do cinema”, adds the one who plays a teacher, in reference to this intergenerational twinning that only. can master the 7e  art.
