the essential
This Saturday, La Trame and Artcoblan bring together elected officials, researchers, artists and local actors around culture in rural areas.

For three years, La Trame and Artcoblan have been moving forward together with the same ambition: to bring to life a demanding cultural offer in rural areas, open to residents and local stakeholders. Saturday June 20, the two structures are organizing a conference in Blan entitled “Culture, a tool for territorial cohesion”. For Didier Lortal, manager of Artcoblan, it is about “promoting a cultural offer which brings together rather than divides in our Tarn region”. Created by Hélène and Didier Lortal, Artcoblan brings together a gallery, bookstore, creative space, workshops and performance hall. “Culture constitutes a powerful lever for social cohesion and links between citizens,” he underlines.

A platter of choice

The conference will open at 4:30 p.m. with Dominique Faure, former Minister Delegate in charge of Territorial Communities and Rurality from 2022 to 2024. Around her, several speakers will meet their eyes: Georges Dhers, local development specialist; Sophie Sellerian, director of the Ynov group; Fanny Parent, lecturer in sociology; Thierry Bardy, president of IMS Network; and Thierry Dumas, president of the community of communes “Aux sources du canal du Midi”. Local elected officials will also be present, with Judith Ajchenbaum, mayor of Fiac, Jérôme Garcia, mayor of Revel, and Claudie Bonnet, departmental advisor. The discussions will focus on access to culture, education, the attractiveness of territories and the place of residents in projects.

Titouan Lamazou is invited

At 6:30 p.m., the meeting will continue with the opening of Titouan Lamazou’s exhibition, in the presence of the artist. Navigator, painter, writer, photographer, former winner of the Vendée Globe and UNESCO Artist for Peace, he embodies this idea of a culture which connects people and territories. “Transmitted from childhood, culture is a formidable vector of emancipation,” recalls Didier Lortal.
