Beauty queen, Sophie Thalmann is one of the faces of the 2000s. In 1998, the 22-year-old won the Miss France competition. This coronation then opened the doors to the world of television and, from 1999, she became a consultant to Thierry Roland in the sports magazine Téléfootbroadcast on TF1. A national showcase, which allowed him to quickly rise in popularity in France, particularly among football fans. After three years Téléfootshe embarks on a new challenge, still on the small screen: the show How much does it cost?with Jean-Pierre Pernaut.
A lover of animals…and especially horses
Passionate about animals, she joined the channel in 2004 Equidiain the show I loved a horse. This format will only be the first in a long series, since the model will then continue the broadcasts with the channel: Sophie.clubde 2006 à 2009, Ch’val dire à Sophiefrom 2009 to 2017, and Sophie & Cofrom 2013 to 2017. There is no doubt, Sophie Thalmann is a big fan of horses.
Proof of this is that in 2023, she is devoting herself, with her husband Christophe Soumillon, to the renovation of a 48-hectare estate in Normandy to create an equestrian academy. More precisely at the Marettes property in Saint-Arnoult, in Calvados, near Deauville. An ambitious project which is part of the continuity of the Soumillon International Pony Academy (SIPA).
Sophie Thalmann had no choice
If Sophie Thalmann, who refused to go to the Miss France 2024 ceremony, is a horse lover, she does not forget her dogs. With her family, she has adopted several and has infinite love for them. This Sunday, June 7, she shared her pain in an Instagram post, after having made a terrible choice, a year after the loss of her dog Jack: “My Harley. I never imagined writing these words today. A few days ago you couldn’t get up. Given your old age I thought you had a little osteoarthritis, that it would go away… But this morning I had to make the most difficult decision, the one we dread, and say goodbye to you.” she wrote on Instagram.
There is no doubt, Sophie Thalmann loved her dog more than anything: “14 years since you were my shadow, my double. I have never seen you nor heard you growl at someone or another dog. You were nothing but love, the dog that everyone dreams of having by their side. Your gluttony was your only fault!”
Unfortunately, faced with her dog’s health problems, she had no choice but to euthanize him: “You will leave a huge void in my heart and in the house” she concludes.
