Anna Kendrick is at it again! After making her directorial debut with A woman at stake (Women of the Hour in VO), the actress once again has the confidence of Netflix to continue her path behind the camera.
And it’s a major project that Anna Kendrick is tackling: the adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller, Les Sept maris d’Evelyn Hugo. The book, published in the United States in 2017, has sold 24 million copies worldwide, as recalled People. Translated into 43 languages, the work is available in French from Éditions Hauteville.
Secrets of Old Hollywood
The plot follows the story of a fictional star from the golden age of Hollywood who wishes to grant, at the dawn of his 80th birthday, his last interview to a journalist after years of living a recluse. Evelyn Hugo actually wants the reporter, Monique Grant, to write her biography and she will tell him about her life through her seven marriages.
Netflix acquired the rights in 2022 and entrusted the writing of the script to Liz Tigelaar (Fire season) and to Francesca Sloane (Mr & Mrs Smith). Author Taylor Jenkins Reid is executive producer. Neither the casting nor the release date have yet been revealed, but with Anna Kendrick directing, the result is promising. A woman at stakehis first production, won over critics and audiences alike.
