About twenty-five years ago, elders of Lomagne opened their doors and their memories to tell, in Gascon, the life of yesteryear: the work of the farm, the school, the festivals, the songs, the sayings, the gestures of everyday life… Simple and precious words, collected from those who had grown up speaking the language of the country. Today, many of these voices have fallen silent. This shows how rare the opportunity is to still hear this lively, warm, sometimes funny, sometimes moving Gascon, carried by the language and the memory of an entire generation. This free screening invites you to rediscover a world that is close and yet already distant: a time when people lived, sang and spoke in Lomagne Occitan.

Whether you are a child of the country that knew this generation or simply curious to discover the language and an art of living in Lomagne, come and listen to these witnesses to a living, fragile and profoundly human heritage. Cinema doors open, Sunday June 14 at 5:30 p.m., to discover the books and DVDs from the “Al Canton” collection. Start of the session at 6 p.m. which will be followed by a discussion with Christian-Pierre Bedel. Free entry (in Gascon with French subtitles).
