After more than four decades away from the seventh art, Kara Zor-El will once again be at the top of the bill with Supergirlwhich is inspired by the comic book Woman of Tomorrow by Evely Bilquis and Tom King, with a heroine on an existential quest while her path crosses that of an alien thirsty for revenge. To take over from Helen Slater, who played the character in front of Jeannot Swarc’s camera in 1984, the choice of the thinking heads at DC Studios fell on Millie Alcock, seen in House of the Dragons. And after a short appearance at the end of Supermanthe time has come for Kal-El’s cousin to take on the cinemas.
Directed by Craig Gillespie (Me, Tonya, Cruella) this new solo film will therefore follow our Kryptonian in the midst of an intimate quest to the confines of the galaxy, having to take a last look at her painful past – which will have been synonymous with the near extinction of her species – while having to look towards the future. Being able to count on the presence of Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and even Jason Momoa – who swaps the role of Aquaman for that of Lobo (a bounty hunter who does not lack resources), Supergirl will set off to conquer the dark rooms July 1st.
