The Society of Friends of Independent Cinema (Saci), the association which manages the Masseube cinema, held its general assembly last Monday. During the presentation of the moral report, Domenico Dioniso, the president, took stock of the cinema’s activity in 2025. More than 5,000 spectators attended the 438 screenings organized by the cinema.
If the average number of people present at the screenings is relatively low (16 on average), this remains consistent with the national average for cinemas, which is very honorable given the population potential. The number of sessions offered is greater than the number of days of the year, especially since it is the association’s volunteers who officiate free of charge as room managers and projectionists in the vast majority of cases. In addition, to liven up the cinema, more than 30 events were organized such as pizza movies, movie meditations and meetings with actors or directors. Thanks to all these efforts, Masseube’s cinema is labeled “Arts and essays”, “Young audiences” and “Short films”.
The programming was varied with both arthouse films and blockbusters but also documentaries so that “everyone can find what they are looking for”, as Domenico Dioniso, the president, recalled. From a financial point of view, the financial year ended with a positive result for a turnover of €21,364.
