A few weeks after the disappearance of his mother, Nathalie Baye, Laura
Smet
continue to pay tribute to him. Since the death of the actress, on April 17 at the age of 77, the daughter of Johnny Hallyday and Nathalie Baye has multiplied moving declarations to salute the memory of the one she described as
“an incredible friend”, “an eternal lover”
et “a fabulous mother”. This time, it is through music that she has chosen to show her love for him, through song.
Nothing Lastsregistered with the duo electro francais The Penelopes.

Originally, however, this title was not intended to be released now. On Instagram, Laura Smet and the members of The Penelopes, Axel Basquiat and Vincent Trémel, explained that they were preparing a completely different musical release,
“with another energy, another movement”as they specify. But recent events have given the song a
unexpected resonance. The trio then decided to share it with the public, just before Mother’s Day.

As they point out, “with its aerial sounds and its atmosphere full of nostalgia, Nothing Lasts evokes the passing of time, the invisible links that unite us to loved ones and this fragility that sometimes accompanies the most beautiful stories.”
A theme which obviously takes a particular dimensione since the disappearance of Nathalie Baye.

Fans touched in the heart

The clip is very sober, it consists of black and white images before ending with a particularly touching dedication for the deceased actress: “For Nathalie, with love
and light”
. A way for Laura Smet to remind us that this song is also a love letter adressée à sa
mère.  Les fans sont comblés  : “Unforgettable in any way. This song this music is as sweet classy elegant as your mom”, “A flame that lights gently”, “I really like the pure and soothing side, it’s like a balm to the heart. Thank you Laura”, “Well done Laura, everything is clear and smooth”we greet in the comments.

This collaboration also has a strong symbolic value. Nathalie Baye knew The Penelopes well since she had already worked with them in 2022. Seduced by the world of the duo based in London, the actress had even recorded with them what will remain one of the rare musical experiences of her career, the song
Life Is Long.
