The icon of the 2000s was passing through the canton of Vaud this Saturday for an evening organized by Collectif 52, all in praise of the best and worst decade in the history of music. Summary of this compendium of nostalgia and glitter.

«Hmmm… are you sister of yourself…?»
Our companion takes a wary look at the glittering pupute’s sequined mini-dress. Unfazed, we told him that it was a cross homage to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. If the argument does not really find favor in the eyes of the loved one, we will not throw stones at him. Already he is about to be dragged more or less against his will to La Tour-de-Peilz (VD), for an evening filled with iconic hits – but of questionable musical quality.
While 2026 sails without complexes on the nostalgia of the 2000s, from flapper Nokias to low-waisted jeans, including Juicy Couture tracksuits, Collectif 52 had the good taste to ride the trend and invite one of the emblems of the decade: the German group Cascada, better known under the guise of its singer, Natalie Horler.

21 years after the global success of Everytime We Touchwhich will make Cascada one of the most downloaded groups of all time behind David Guetta, the trio finds themselves performing in an unlikely place: a plastic tent pitched in the middle of the Place des Anciens-Fossés, somewhere on the banks of Lake Geneva.
7:30 p.m.. Youth party atmosphere. While a DJ takes care of raising the temperature (already on point on this scorching Saturday in May), the first arrivals slurp down beers, nachos and burritos from the event’s only food truck, trampling quietly on the lawn and clay until the arrival of the stars of the evening.
In the public, of all ages, few have played the 2000s dress code game. We don’t blame them. It’s not like it was officially requested by the organizers. And then, this period was cruel. Try flirting in the evening with Justin Timberlake’s look in 2001, you’ll see what it’s like.
Well, what.Image: Corbis Entertainment
The advantage of Rihanna and the Black Eyed Peas is that it only takes three notes to convince Corinne, Sabine and Frédéric to move from the lawn to the dance floor. One or two Gin to’ overcome the last resistance and timidity. The sun has not set when the crowd goes wild to the rhythm of Poker Face, I Gotta Feeling et Love Generation.
At 10:30 p.m., the audience is buzzing, shouting the words of Sia and Justin Bieber in unison, the tent at Place des Anciens-Fossé is almost full. The DJ has performed his task so well that we would like to protest when, at exactly 10:58 p.m., the music stops abruptly and the lights go out, to make way for the highlight of the show.
Finally, here they are. Against a backdrop of shrill screams, Natalie Horler’s cascade of platinum hair emerges onto the small stage, flanked by two well-built dancers. With abundant false eyelashes and a molded body in a sequinned jumpsuit (she respected the dress code!), the singer is an escaped vision of the New Year 2008. She hasn’t changed one iota.
A few minutes before going on stage, the Cascada singer shared one last story on Instagram.image: instagram

Suffice to say right away that if nostalgia makes a good audience, we have not consumed enough Gin and Tonic to ignore the poor quality of the sound. If we weren’t really expecting a high-flying performance worthy of Taylor Swift, our ears took it for granted. For now, we rather have the feeling of attending Eurovision without a budget.
Still, we must recognize that the singer of Cascada has an intact energy, which the public responds well to. The concert will not last longer than the legal minimum and the long-awaited hitEverytime We Touch will obviously not arrive before the very end of the show, but the evening was well worth the trip.
This is perhaps what struck us in the Cascada concert. The wait was much more enjoyable than the show itself. And it’s a rather rare pleasure.
