Tuesday June 2, at 8 p.m., the church of Fontaines-en-Duesmois will open its doors to the public for a Franco-German concert. The bilingual choir of Munich, directed by Constantin Baedeker, will join the choir Les Voix de la Douix de Darcey, directed by Bruno Pignalet for 12 years, who will also accompany them on the piano.

The concert, mixing German songs on the theme of nature and French variety, will end with a common piece: Our local language by Yves Duteil. “It’s a fun meeting because there is a contrast between our repertoires,” says Isabelle Pradalié Koeniger, chorister in the Munich choir.

Also a Franco-German idea

If the Franco-German choir from Munich has already come to perform in Villaines-en-Duesmois in 2014, this is the first time that the 35 choristers from Munich and the 50 singers from the Darcey choir will meet for a joint performance.

It was the Munich-based Isabelle Pradalié Koeniger who was at the origin of this idea of Franco-German musical representation.

While the Munich choir was preparing a performance in Toulouse, a last-minute cancellation forced them to find a new venue. Isabelle Pradalié Koeniger therefore suggested returning to Burgundy, not far from Emerots, the hamlet of Fontaines-en-Duesmois where she spent her childhood summers.

But she is not the only one to speak French within the Munich choir: “Our conductor speaks French very well and there are seven choristers who are French,” explains Isabelle Pradalié Koeniger.
