In the Sauce is already shaping up to be one of Netflix’s hottest programs. At the helm, Paul de Saint Sernin promises cash grabs and unfiltered sequences against several French personalities. Even before its launch, the show is generating reactions on social networks. A first sequence revealed by Netflix notably shows the recently divorced comedian tackling Patrick Bruel head-on in a very notable sketch. Faced with around thirty accusations of rape and sexual assault, the singer lost a lot of support. Starting with his record company which dropped him, as well as several radio stations and a flagship show on France 2.
Paul de Saint Sernin hits hard for his arrival on Netflix
Paul de Saint Sernin continues his rise in the French audiovisual landscape. After having multiplied the notable appearances in Quelle époque! with Léa Salamé, the comedian is now arriving on Netflix with Dans la sauce, a roast show broadcast from June 3. For this first edition, two legendary generations of French football face off: France 98 against France 2018. Marcel Desailly, Christophe Dugarry, Robert Pirès, Adil Rami and Samuel Umtiti take part in this evening dedicated to spicy humor. The concept remains simple: each guest agrees to be targeted with jokes that are sometimes very biting, in a deliberately provocative but entertainment-oriented atmosphere.
In an extract revealed this Thursday, May 28 on Netflix social networks, Paul de Saint Sernin immediately announces the color. “The question we are asking ourselves this evening is who are the best between France 98 and France 2018†, he says before multiplying the punchlines. The comedian then continues with a much-commented remark about Patrick Bruel: “What is a roast? It’s when you beat someone up, but they agree to it. As a result, Patrick Bruel did not come.†A valve which quickly caused Internet users to react. But the singer is not the only one targeted during the show. Raymond Domenech, Marcel Desailly, Samuel Umtiti and Adil Rami also suffered several attacks, to the laughter of the public and the guests present on the set.
Patrick Bruel maintains his defense line
For several months, Patrick Bruel has been facing accusations of rape and sexual assault made by several women. The singer, presumed innocent until proven guilty, firmly contests all the facts with which he is accused. On his social networks, the interpreter of Who has the right took the floor to publicly defend his position. “I have never forced a woman,†he said. He also assures that he has “never drugged, manipulated or sought to subjugate anyone”. Patrick Bruel also insists on the fact that he has “never used his notoriety to abuse anyone and obtain non-consensual relationships”. The singer now says he wants to fight in court in order to “defend the truth”. In his message, Patrick Bruel also mentions the support of his loved ones, his team and his public. “I will defend myself, for those who support me, for my family, for my team, for my friends,” he wrote in particular. The artist also recalls his attachment to the presumption of innocence and the right to a fair investigation. Despite this affair, Patrick Bruel assures that he wants to continue his career with “the same dedication and the same passion†. At the same time, the sequence broadcast by Netflix continues to fuel discussions around Dans la sauce, already presented as one of the most explosive programs on the platform.
