Actress Anne Hathaway has revealed she battled a secret illness for ten years, before finally undergoing surgery.

Usually very discreet about her private life, Hollywood star Anne Hathaway was not stingy with confessions during her recent appearance on the “Popcast” podcast of New York Times. The actress notably spoke about her long fight against an illness which greatly affected her eyesight. “Maybe this is too much information,” she began. “I was half blind for 10 years.”

At the age of 30, in fact, he was diagnosed with an early onset of cataracts. This disease corresponds to a clouding of the lens of the eye, which leads to a deterioration of vision. The most common form generally appears with age.

“I finally had to have surgery. And I only realized the seriousness of the situation once I was finally able to see clearly,” continues the star of Devil wears Pradanow 43 years old.

The actress adds that she especially underestimated the psychological consequences of this illness. “I have calmed down since then. I didn’t realize how much this was putting a strain on my nervous system. It might not be the case for everyone, but for me it definitely was,” admits Anne Hathaway.

Today, fortunately, the mother of two says she is much better and is grateful every day “when I wake up and I can see things the way I see them,” in her words. “It’s a miracle.”
