The United States carried out new strikes against Iran on the evening of Wednesday June 10, after warnings from Donald Trump. In response, Tehran threatened to attack any ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The American army indicated that it had launched “at 5:15 p.m. (Washington time) new strikes in self-defense against several targets in Iran”, according to the Middle East Military Command (Centcom). “These strikes constitute a response to Iran’s unjustified and persistent aggression,” he added on X.

According to Iranian media, explosions were heard on the island of Qeshm, in Minab, in Sirik and in the port of Bandar Abbas. This area of southern Iran had already been targeted by American strikes during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, targeting air defense installations, ground control posts and Iranian surveillance radars, according to Centcom.

The Strait of Hormuz “completely closed”

The Iranian army immediately announced that it would target any ship using the Strait of Hormuz, now “completely closed to all types of ships, including oil tankers and merchant ships”. The Iranian navy, cited by the country’s media, then claimed that “two ships which attempted to illegally cross” the strait had been “hit”.

For its part, Centcom assured that Hormuz remained open and that “commercial ships continued to transit” through the strait. Furthermore, Iranian media indicated that Tehran had targeted the headquarters of the US 5th Fleet in Bahrain, as well as communications antennas and radars of the Patriot anti-missile system. In the process, the Revolutionary Guards announced that they had struck the bases of Ali al-Salem and Ahmad al-Jaber, in Kuwait, as well as the air base of Sheikh Isa, in Bahrain.

Iran calls for an end to American strikes

According to a Fox News journalist, who claims to have spoken by telephone with Donald Trump, senior Iranian officials asked the American president on Wednesday to end strikes against Iran. A version immediately denied in a press release from the Revolutionary Guards. “We were really on the verge of reaching an agreement, but they keep leading us on, they make fun of us,” Donald Trump complained earlier on Wednesday, to the press in the Oval Office.

In a joint statement, twenty-two countries, including the United States, Australia and several European countries, also called on Iran to stop attacks against people “on their territories”.

Published by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the text specifies that these countries “condemn the attempted murders and other malicious actions carried out in Europe, North America and Australia” by Iranian state entities. During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Iran claimed attacks against American bases in Bahrain and Jordan, in response to American strikes launched after the destruction on Monday of an American helicopter attributed to Tehran

100 million barrels of oil

In Kuwait, the army indicated that it was facing “hostile air targets”, without specifying their origin. In Bahrain, the authorities claimed to have intercepted several attacks, while the Jordanian army claimed to have destroyed five missiles targeting the town of Azraq, where there is an American base.

The United States also announced that it had neutralized an oil tanker which, according to them, was trying to circumvent its blockade of Iranian ports, using a combat plane. According to New Delhi, the attack left three Indian crew members of the ship missing.

On Truth Social, Donald Trump also claimed that the American army had carried out “a secret mission in support of oil tankers and other commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz”, which “allowed 100 MILLION barrels of oil to pass through the strait”.
