The Vert Demain festival opens its 3rd edition on May 29 in Muret. An event to promote the ecological transition in a fun way.

The Vert Demain festival returns to Muret for its third edition, on May 29 and 30. The free event organized by Muretain Agglo will be held on the esplanade of the Véo cinema, avenue d’Europe.

“It’s a citizen meeting aimed at making the ecological transition accessible to all,” explains Florence Pelletier, director of ecological and social transition for the Muretaine conurbation.

A fun program

This year again, the city is working with local associative partners to provide activities. “The objective is to facilitate dialogue between residents and local stakeholders,” underlines Florence Pelletier. “We want to make them shine,” adds Mathieu Lafoux, vice-president of the agglomeration and responsible for the ecological transition.

The Véo esplanade will be covered with interactive stands, offering quizzes and other activities to discover the issues of the ecological transition in a participatory way, explains the manager: “We have two important aspects: mobility and food.”

Horse-drawn carriage rides will allow visitors to “see the city differently than from their car”, according to the director of ecological transition. Two films about the environment will be shown on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Finally, a circus show, provided by the Elefanto Company, will entertain on Saturday afternoon.

Raise awareness among Muretains

For André Mandement, president of Muretain Agglo, this festival is part of the continuity of the city’s environmental policy. “We want to show our commitment to the ecological transition.” The elected official specifies: “We want to mobilize people around all these themes, so that they act on their scale and so that they know what the agglomeration is putting in place.”

“We want to support citizens by providing them with concrete solutions on a daily basis,” explains Mathieu Lafoux. He defends a “modern, pragmatic and unifying” vision of ecology. Elected mayor of Fonsorbes, he hopes to be able to organize the next edition of the festival in his town. “We have a territory that lends itself well to it,” he boasts.

Thanks to Vert Demain, the city hopes to promote the development of soft mobility. The president even mentions the upcoming creation of a “véloMuret” network. “For our future, we must change our models to preserve our planet,” he concludes.
