Are you a fan of an artist? Your loyalty could soon be rewarded. The Spotify platform announced Thursday that it would soon offer its subscribers the opportunity to purchase tickets to the concert of one of their favorite artists before the tickets officially go on sale. This offer will be reserved for “the most loyal fans of an artist”, who will then have the opportunity to reserve two tickets for this artist’s tour. “No more racing against thousands of other fans, no more chasing codes: you simply benefit from a reserved purchase window before the tickets go on sale to the general public,” boasts the platform.
The service, called “Reserved”, will be launched this summer in the United States and will then be extended to other markets. Only major paying subscribers of the platform will be able to benefit from it.

Subscribers will be chosen based on several indicators: the number of plays of a given artist, the range of different titles streamed in their repertoire, as well as the backups made in the audio library, said Rene Volker, head of events. “We will also monitor the activity of Premium users to ensure that they are real fans and not bots,” the platform specifies in a press release. Eligibility will also depend on location. If the tour doesn’t come to your area, “you may not receive an offer,” Spotify warns.
What tours will be offered?
Starting this summer, artists who have recently announced tours will be able to reserve tickets for their true fans via Reserved. Subsequently, Spotify promises that Reserved will offer tickets to “tours of all sizes,” including “the hottest concerts of the moment.”
Availability will vary by artist, tour and location. “There will never be enough tickets for everyone, because theaters have a limited number of seats, but we are going to set aside millions of tickets,” assures Gustav Söderström, co-general director of Spotify.
How will tickets be purchased?
Subscribers eligible to purchase tickets will receive an email and notification in the Spotify app. They will then be able to purchase up to two concert tickets from the tour during a specific period, “approximately one day”, specifies Spotify. The purchase will be made on the platform of a ticketing partner. Currently, Spotify already collaborates with more than 40 ticketing providers. Spotify promises there will be “no additional charges.”
Tickets can be purchased for any concert on the tour. Selected subscribers will be able to choose the date, location and seats when paying. Spotify recommends that its subscribers turn on notifications for concerts and live events, update its app and enable location settings now.
