Yes 79e This year’s film festival lacks American films, but the aura of blockbusters will nevertheless be present on May 13 with, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the film, a screening of The Fast and the Furious in the presence of some of its main actors: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster. Fans of the franchise dedicated to big cars have not forgotten the character played by the actress, Mia Toretto, sister, then companion of two of the heroes respectively: Dominic Toretto, (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner, played by Paul Walker, who tragically died in 2013. Jordana Brewster did not fail to pay tribute to the latter, recalling how the actor was “someone dazzling, whose energy was very grounded. It is for this reason that he always embodied a presence that was pleasant to be around. “The actress also spoke of Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow, 27, also present during the climb of the steps of the film team: “I’m so proud of her. She’s an exquisite young woman, full of self-confidence, of self-confidence. thanks, and I’m so happy to see how much I find Paul in her.”

A family
This climb of the stairs will remain a euphoric memory for Jordana Brewster: “It’s such a contradiction: Cannes is the biggest red carpet I’ve done in my life. However, I felt comfortable there. Because I was with Meadow, Vin, Michelle, we danced. There was something joyful and saving.” Because if frankness Fast & Furious is famous for her chases, she also puts at the heart of her intrigues the notion of family as an indestructible pillar. An idea which, for 25 years, has linked the actors beyond the screens: “It’s always fun to be with my partners”, insists the actress. “We share a story which cannot be replaced.”

It is also this link which contributed, according to Jordana Brewster, to making the franchise Fast & Furious a separate space, preserved, for its actresses: “When I started, at the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s, I think that the women were pitted against each other. We were put in competition. However, in the films Fast & Furiouswe each had a specific role to play, we were not there to try to gain the upper hand. It’s like a wave that hits us all at the same time.”
Perpetual motion
In addition to the films in the franchise (including the latest installment, Fast and Furious 10was released in 2023), the 46-year-old actress, mother of two children, regularly played roles on petit (a reboot of dallasthe series American Crime Story) et grand écran (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning in 2007, or American Robbery, in 2014.) And seeks to stay constantly on the move, eager for new terrain to explore: “I am never as happy as when I am juggling. Not just between motherhood and acting: I also need intellectual stimulation, whether it’s participating in writing workshops, acting classes, or even taking auditions. Actors need something to eat, or they go crazy.” Jordana Brewster has also found this balance over the years: “The twenties and thirties are a bit of a waste for women,” she says with a burst of laughter. “It was as soon as I turned 40 that I finally felt like myself, that I understood what I really wanted to do, what was important to me in my career, and to ask for what I wanted.” Without going at full speed. But without ever stopping.
