The trip of the International Exchange Committee, from 1is on May 3 in Wallerstein, took around thirty musicians and a dozen college students. This trip was, therefore, placed under the sign of music and youth. Two buses left Friday 1is May for Wallerstein to be welcomed at 5 p.m. by Mayor Georg Stoller, and the German twins. The next day, two guided tours were organized: one to Ellwangen with a horticultural exhibition, the other for musicians to Nördlinger, a medieval town. In the evening, the Harmonie de Couches of the Autun conservatory gave a concert very appreciated by the public. Note the presence of Mr. Schürer, former mayor of Wallerstein and signatory of the twinning charter in 1997.

A typical meal accompanied by Wallerstein beer and enhanced with French songs delighted the guests. Note the intervention of an improvised choir made up of middle school students from Couches and some local counterparts.

On Sunday, a concert by the Birkhausen brass band performed pieces of Bavarian music, before leaving for Couches at 1:30 p.m. The farewells were full of emotion, with the promise of meeting again in 2027 in Couches for the 30th.e  anniversary of the twinning. This trip benefited from the support of the Franco/German Citizen Fund.

During this stay, Jérémy Coquard, mayor of Couches, declared on his return: “I remember the warm and friendly atmosphere created by everyone, Germans and French alike. The good humor and good-natured spirit of our group of college students who seem to have had a great intercultural experience there. Also, I was very touched by the kindness shown by our friends from Wallerstein to warmly welcome me as the new mayor.” During his speech, the mayor wanted “to salute the value of this intercultural exchange which has been going on for three decades and which is a vector of a message of fraternity between peoples across borders. »
