Kyle Sinckler does not like cheating, nor cheaters. And he did not hesitate to explain this to Pau player Aaron Grandidier, whom he accused of simulation.
Kyle Sinckler is someone you listen to. The imposing right pillar with a stunning international career with England (68 caps) has been playing for Toulon since 2024. The experienced and devastating British player talked to L’Equipe about his time in Toulon and his experience in the Top 14. He particularly mentioned an incident that occurred during the match against Pau on February 1st.
And this incident shows that the tough right pillar does not tolerate certain behaviors on a rugby field. Sinckler had an altercation with Pau winger Aaron Grandidier during that match. Sinckler accused Grandidier of faking an injury after a tackle and he did not appreciate this behavior, comparing it to what is sometimes seen in football.
“I told him: ‘No football, mate!’ He was faking, I found it disgusting. On the ground, he pretended to have been hit on the head. I saw that Seta Tuicuvu’s tackle was perfectly legal, as I was very close,” he told the sports daily. Pau’s winger quickly returned to the field without protest. When Sinckler speaks, people listen.
He continued his story and described their exchange: “Cut the acting, mate!” I told him to get up and he did. Rugby needs to pay attention to these behaviors. Children are watching. We play a dangerous sport but no one enters a field to hurt someone. Simulation can lead to a player being sent off. It’s unfair.
Sinckler delivered his message. And the players from Stade Toulousain have been warned: they will be facing Kyle Sinckler in the next Top 14 match, at the Vélodrome in Marseille, on Saturday, May 9th, at 9:05 pm.
