Words that certainly touched Angelina Jolie in the heart. On April 26, 2026, the star attended a brunch organized by the Pearls of Purpose foundation in Atlanta, accompanied by her daughter Zahara. This was an opportunity for the Spelman College student to open up about the deep bond between them.
The 21-year-old began her speech with these words: “When I was asked to speak to you today about the importance of the mother-daughter relationship, I found it difficult to find the words. Not because I don’t value it, but because my mother and I have a unique, almost fusion-like relationship that is sometimes hard to describe.”
“I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me,” she continued. “Our love is a chosen love. I was adopted at six months and was fortunate to have exceptional siblings and a mother who raised us with values of mutual support, kindness, and personal development. These values may seem simple, but in a world where kindness is often overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model who showed me what it means to be a good person.”
Zahara Jolie also explained that her mother was “the most selfless, loving, and understanding woman” she knew. She ended with these words: “I think back to a quote I read years ago: ‘I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.’ Thank you, mom.” A speech that certainly did not fail to move Angelina Jolie.
It was in 2005 that Zahara was adopted in Ethiopia by her parents. Angelina Jolie is also the mother of five other children: Vivienne and Knox, 17, Shiloh, 19, Pax, 22, and Maddox, 24.
