The group is making a comeback with Boxe Office, a ten-track demo album and two concerts scheduled in April and May to celebrate this musical rebirth. Nestled in the mid-1980s, almost on the benches of the college, the members of Matinée d’ivresse never really gave up their passion for rock ‘n’ roll. This autodidactic and empirical group from Millau, which marked the local scenes with its energetic compositions, first as a trio (guitar-vocals, bass, drums), then enriched by the arrival of an accordionist. After a resounding clash, the group finally decided to settle in Causse Noir, in an old shepherd’s room, after a separation of nearly twenty years, punctuated by some reunions, like in 2001 for the recording of the single Le chemin des dames. In 2026, the year “Boxe Office” Reformed in 2018, Matinée d’ivresse has reinvented itself. Although often reduced to a duo in recent years, the group continues to defend an eclectic repertoire, mixing rock and French chansons, adorned with covers of Bashung, Brel, Murat, Thiéfaine, Nick Cave, and even Depeche Mode. The band’s news is rich. After the release of the single Copenhague in January on YouTube, Matinée d’ivresse takes a new step with the mid-April release of their new demo album, “Boxe Office,” a ten-track record that promises to delight fans of authentic rock. To celebrate this, the group will take the stage at The Silex on Friday, April 18th at 7:30 pm, and then at the rum bar Le Petit Furet on Saturday, May 2nd, with two time slots: 7 pm and 10 pm. An opportunity to discover their universe in a configuration of strings and lyrical percussions, as they know so well how to do. With “Boxe Office,” Matinée d’ivresse proves that the Millau rock scene still has bright days ahead of it. And that, decade after decade, musical intoxication never really fades.
