The new Advanced Manufacturing Lab at Poudre School District provides high-end tools to help students gain essential job skills. Additionally, Preston Middle School secured its 15th Science Olympiad state championship, with Poudre School District teams dominating the top 10 spots in the middle school division. Fossil Ridge High School’s teams also performed well, placing second and third in the high school division.
Preston Middle School reclaimed the state title it narrowly lost last year, winning its 15th overall Science Olympiad championship. The Preston Teal team easily outdistanced the runner-up defending champion, Homeschool Science Colorado, in the competition held on April 4. Following this victory, the Preston Teal team advances to the Science Olympiad National Tournament at the University of Southern California.
Poudre School District teams excelled in the competition, securing six of the top 10 spots in the middle school division. Fossil Ridge teams finished second and third in the high school category. The Science Olympiad encompasses 23 events covering various topics, including genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology.
The Preston Teal team clinched the middle school title by performing exceptionally well in multiple events. Their score of 63 points was significantly ahead of the second-place team. Preston Middle School has a storied history in the Science Olympiad, having won multiple state titles since 1998.
The success of these schools highlights the dedication and talent of students and educators in the region. Their achievements in the Science Olympiad showcase the commitment to excellence in science education.
