He also said that unlike the space in Essex Junction that the company was previously pursuing, his building is already zoned for such a purpose.”Unlike their experience in Essex Junction, where a new facility had to be constructed, our Macy’s building, which is ideally suited for Amazon’s use, already exists and is ready to go,” Sinex said in part. While he said that he has yet to receive a response from Amazon, Sinex said there are other possibilities for the future of his property, including as a delivery facility for other businesses operating in the Burlington area.He said that while the building may undergo redevelopment in the future to make it “better serve the community and meet emerging real estate demands,” there are no current plans for the building. Meanwhile, Burlington School District Superintendent Russ Elek told NBC5 that officials are working to give away as many of the desks, chairs and other furniture used in the Macy’s location so that it does not have to be thrown away.
