KU, K-State players picked in NFL Draft, Chiefs make their selections
In the NFL Draft, K-State center Sam Hecht was picked in the fifth round by the Carolina Panthers and safety VJ Payne went in the seventh round to the New York Jets.
Kansas tackle Enrique Cruz Jr. was drafted in round five by the San Francisco 49ers. Wide receiver Emanuel Henderson Jr. is headed to the Seattle Seahawks after getting picked in round six.
The Kansas City Chiefs picked up seven new players, including LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane and Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods in the first round.
Baseball rivalry weekend: Sunflower Showdown and Turnpike Tussle
After weather delays on Sunday, the Sunflower Showdown and Turnpike Tussle wrapped up with KU and Washburn coming out on top.
The Jayhawks swept the Wildcats in Manhattan, completing their sixth straight series win against K-State. The team outscored the Wildcats by double-digit runs across all three games this weekend.
Emporia State and Washburn were splitting the series 1-1 when the Ichabods took game three 6-3 after nearly three hours of a weather delay.
Both teams have one more home series before the MIAA tournament with Washburn taking on Pittsburgh State and Emporia State battling Northeastern State.
Royals relocating stadium to Crown Center area in Kansas City
The Royals are planning to build a stadium estimated to be more than $3 billion in the Crown Center area in downtown Kansas City.
This project is a partnership between the Royals and Hallmark Cards, with majority of the funding coming from private investors and public funding from the city.
