Seventy-five homes were damaged by a tornado in Ringle, causing catastrophic damage. Ringle Fire Chief Chris Kielman reported that crews responded around 5 p.m. on Friday for search and rescue operations. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported, but some residents were trapped in their basements.

The devastation mainly affected a subdivision in a residential area, with Riverside Elementary suffering minor damage nearby. Displaced residents were being relocated to D.C. Everest Middle School. Crews thoroughly checked each property to ensure no one was left inside, with several homes being demolished. Assistance was requested from neighboring departments for the search and rescue efforts.

Marathon County Sheriff Chad Billeb described the situation as unprecedented in his 34-year career in law enforcement, emphasizing the need for substantial aid for the affected individuals. The county is collaborating with a foundation to establish a benefit fund. Ringle resident Janine Moncur, who experienced a tornado in her childhood, shared her memories of the terrifying event.

The tornado’s path started in Kronenwetter and extended north to Ringle, causing additional damage in Stettin off County Highway O. An exclusive video related to the incident is available for download on the WSAW news app or WSAW First Alert weather app.
