The Boulégantes festival returns Friday June 12 to the Meuse site in Gignac. Free, this Total Festum event will bring together Juliette Minvielle, the Donkeys of Palinkov and La Mossa around the same common thread: bringing popular traditions to life with a resolutely contemporary energy.

It’s going to be exciting this Friday evening on the left bank of the Hérault. The “Boulègantes” festival returns this June 12, on the Meuse site in Gignac, as part of Total Festum*. On the program, the meeting, free, offers a nice line-up composed of Juliette Minvielle, the Donkeys of Palinkov and Mossa. For this fifth edition, the festival, organized by an association of parents of students from the Calendrete de Gignac, has invited Juliette Minvielle who will perform her single on stage “Solo for Gugusse. A very nice project on which she sings in Occitan, but not only that. She plays several instruments with a lot of improvisation and humor. It’s going to be a very beautiful moment”promises Matia Levréro, parent and musician. After Juliette Minvielle (at 7 p.m.), Palinkov’s Donkeys take over at 8:45 p.m. and La Mossa will close the show at 10:45 p.m.

A family spirit

“The common thread of the evening is a fairly modern relationship with tradition. We all take on traditional music, quite old music, but we really play them in a contemporary style, with a lot of freedom, without hesitating to mix influences. It’s full of inspirations that are other. Juliette does this very well with the songs of Occitanie. The field game of donkeys, it’s more the Balkans and the gypsy repertoire: we mix jazz, rock… There is a real connection to artistic creation, without losing sight of popular culture, it remains very family-friendly, very accessible”, he describes. Same spirit for Mossa, “which is part of a beautiful lineage of groups which combine polyphony and percussion.”A female quartet passes through the wall singing in Occitan but also in Spanish, Italian, “and who even winks at the music of the meeting…”

A lovely tasty mescladis in short… games, refreshment bar, choir and catering on site.
