A new title for the AAPPMA (fishing company) of Bagnac: Serge Gines-Rueda, has just been awarded, in Carcassonne, the Occitanie trophy which rewards associations which work in favor of biodiversity.
This is the second time that the tenacity, efforts and commitment to safeguarding natural environments carried out by this association have been rewarded. Bagnac had been selected for the work carried out at the Guirande lake (which is under his responsibility); namely the restoration of pike spawning grounds, the development of fish caches and the installation of an artificial spawning ground. It was on the occasion of the general assembly of the ARPO that Patrick Ruffié, president of the Lot Fishing Federation, and also president of this regional association of fishermen of Occitanie presented the award to the president of the Bagnacois company. This trophy was accompanied by the sum of €2,000 which will, we have no doubt, allow us to continue to make the necessary improvements to protect aquatic environments. Asked about the frequentation of rivers and streams and the Guirande body of water, President Gines-Rueda notes a regular attendance of the Célélé and its tributaries; there is no substantial deterioration in water quality and fish quantity. However, he reports an increase in the number of fishermen on the Guirande body of water; proof that the latest developments have started to bear fruit.
