The Orizonti adventure begins at the end of 2021. Behind its creation, a strong political desire carried by the Community of Municipalities of Castagniccia-Casinca to create an event capable of promoting the know-how, the heritage and the many riches of the territory.

This festival, eagerly awaited in the micro-region, begins Friday June 5 and continues until Sunday. The idea was both to have a showcase to show what exists and to bring culture as close as possible to the inhabitants.” explains Stéphane Orsini who is leading the organization of the event.

Scheduled for the beginning of June, before the launch of the traditional village festivals, the event quickly found its place in the island cultural landscape. Concerts, conferences, exhibitions, workshops and even literary meetings, the festival offers a completely free program.

“It is not based anywhere and belongs to all of Corsica”

What distinguishes Orizonti from other Corsican cultural events is, above all, its itinerancy. Its particularity? Move through the territory of Castagniccia.

This year, he settled in the villages of Piedicroce, Pie-d’Orezza and Rapaggio. It is not based anywhere and belongs to all of Corsica.” insist Stéphane Orsini.

This mobility allows us to discover these villages from the inside. The very name of the festival reflects this ambition: to look towards the horizon while remaining deeply attached to its identity.

And if the promotion of heritage constitutes one of the common threads of this fifth edition, for local elected officials, the challenge also consists of highlighting the projects of the territory. Among the stated objectives is notably obtaining the national label “Country of art and history” in order to boost the tourist promotion of the territory.

Expected benefits for the local economy

Beyond the cultural aspect, Orizonti also generates obvious economic activity. Restaurants, refreshments, food trucks, producers and artisans take part in the event.

This year, between 25 and 30 exhibitors are expected at the various meetings of the festival. This allows us to be known”, says Valérie Moracchini, manager of the hotel, restaurant Le refuge.

The visibility offered to the villages of Piedicroce, Pie-d’Orezza and Rapaggio is part of a long-term approach. “The objective is to strengthen the image of the territory and help local structures to maintain and develop,” supports Stéphane Orsini.

After five years of existence, Orizonti intends to continue its mission: to make culture a lever for development and a means of discovering Castagniccia well beyond its borders.
