The culture is them. Seven readers of La Provence exchanged, Monday, June 1, 2026, with the Minister of Culture Catherine Pégard, during a “Face the readers” organized at the newspaper’s headquarters in Marseille. For 45 minutes, these actors from the cultural world asked their questions to the minister, appointed to this position just three months ago.
“I didn’t see these three months go byrecognized the former president of the Château de Versailles, when Olivier Biscay, editorial director of La Provenceasked her about the mark she would like to leave. In a year, I will no longer be a minister. This gives both great freedom and even more responsibilities. But it would be wrong to say that culture is mistreated.“
Mistreated perhaps not, but difficult to access for certain audiences, yes. This is what Marion Chapulut, founder of the social diversity development association CitizenCorps, mentioned when questioning the minister on the future of the Culture Pass, and how this system “can restore tools for social cohesion at school, recreate links between children who do not have the same realities” face à l’accès à la culture….
