The gendarmes from the Rouen and Orléans research section dismantled an international narcotics trafficking network in the Dreux and Évreux sectors. 405 kg of cannabis resin were seized and six people were indicted.

On June 4, 2026, gendarmes from the Rouen and Orléans research section arrested eight people suspected of organizing the importation and distribution of cannabis resin in the Dreux (Eure-et-Loir) and Évreux (Eure) sectors.

“This network carried out convoys from Spain and ensured the distribution of narcotic products as well as the laundering of profits from trafficking, in particular through the acquisition of real estate and through a carpentry company,” indicates a press release from the national gendarmerie.

It was the careful investigations carried out by the investigators which made it possible to identify the main culprits and to understand the mode of operation of the network. At the beginning of June, the preparation of a supply convoy from Spain was detected. A legal operation is then triggered.

On June 4, the convoy crossed the French border and went back towards the center of France. The convoy is intercepted by the police. 400 kg of cannabis resin were discovered in one of the vehicles. The two conveyors were immediately taken into custody.

“Simultaneously, six other people involved to different degrees in this trafficking were arrested with the support of intervention units in the departments of Eure and Eure et Loire. These are nearly 120 gendarmes and units specialists who were mobilized for this operation”, underlines the national gendarmerie in its press release.

All of the searches led to the seizure, in addition to the 400 kg of cannabis resin in the vehicle, of 400 grams of cocaine, i.e. an overall market value of narcotics estimated at 1,300,000 euros.

They also led to the discovery and seizure of a handgun, eight long weapons as well as a war weapon. “Seizures for criminal assets were also made on real estate, bank accounts, furniture, vehicles, luxury leather goods and household appliances, for a total value estimated at nearly one million euros,” adds the national gendarmerie.

At the end of their custody, on June 8, 2026, six defendants were brought before the ordering magistrate and were indicted then placed in provisional detention. Two other defendants will be summoned at the end of June 2026 before the same magistrate.
