Pop culture continues to seduce the French public. Manga festivals, cosplay conventions, gaming tournaments or events dedicated to series and cinema now attract tens of thousands of visitors throughout France. In Moselle, Metz’Torii has established itself over the years as a major event in this rapidly expanding world. The next edition will be held on May 30 and 31 at the Parc des Expositions, covering more than 10,000 m².
Prestigious guests for fans of series and manga
This year, the event hits hard with the arrival of Richard Dean Andersonknown worldwide for his role as Colonel Jack O’Neill in the cult series Stargate SG-1but also for having played MacGyver in the 1980s. His presence constitutes one of the highlights of this edition.
Lovers of fantasy cinema will also find Josh Herdman and Jamie Waylett, known for their roles in the saga Harry Potter. On the French voice side, several big names in dubbing are announced, including Emmanuel Curtil, French voice of Jim Carrey or Chandler in Friends.
The convention will also honor content creators, manga authors, illustrators and cosplayers, with competitions, photo shoots, signings and stage shows throughout the weekend.
Beyond the event itself, Metz’Torii illustrates the rise of a culture long considered marginal. Video games, Japanese animation and fantasy worlds now occupy a central place in the leisure activities of young generations… but also of an increasingly large family audience. In Metz, the convention still hopes to attract several thousand visitors and confirm its status as an unmissable pop culture event in the Grand Est.
