The American president has repeatedly repeated that an agreement is “coming very close”, was “near” or “imminent” on (very) numerous occasions since the start of the war in Iran. So much so that since March 23, and his first message to this effect, Donald Trump has predicted the end of hostilities more than 30 times.
“Very fruitful discussions” from March 23, but still no agreement almost three months later. Customary of sulfurous and often thoughtless or spontaneous declarations, American President Donald Trump did not deviate from the rule on the subject of the war in Iran.
Faced with the multiplication of its optimistic outputs regarding an end to the conflict in recent months, the American news channel CNN has accumulated the number of times the war was in its final moments according to the tenant of the White House.
The result is clear: Donald Trump has, since March 23 and his first message in this direction – therefore in 79 days – theorized at least 38 times that an agreement was about to be concluded or that Iran was desperately seeking to conclude one.
That’s almost one message every two days. Enough to make us more and more skeptical with each intervention mentioning the end of the fighting in the Middle East.
Iran “accepted everything” on April 17 according to Trump…
The 23 mars, Donald Trump indicated, in a message posted on son réseau Truth Socialhaving had “over the last two days” “very fruitful and constructive discussions with a view to a complete and definitive settlement of our hostilities in the Middle East“.
A publication followed the same week by another mentioning “discussions (which) are continuing and going very well” on 25 mars or that Iran was “begging” Donald Trump to reach a deal on the following day. Finally, after several rejected ultimatums and other denials from Tehran concerning these discussions, the American president mentioned the 8 avril having received a “viable” ten-point plan from the Iranian side.
As reported by CNN, the count continued throughout April when Donald Trump judged the 16 avril as “very likely that we will reach an agreement with Iran”, that the country had “accepted everything”, that an agreement “will be concluded within a day or two” and that there are no “blocking points” the 17 avril or even published in a message published on Truth Social that “everything will happen relatively quickly” on 20 avril.
… but mentions a delay of “two to three days” on June 9 before an agreement
Other declarations followed at the end of April and the beginning of May, with Donald Trump, for example, dangling an agreement “which should not take too long” on May 1st.
Before contradicting himself May 16 when he announced to BFMTV that Iran “will have a very bad time” if an agreement is not concluded quickly, exactly one month, therefore, after his declarations suggesting that Tehran had “accepted everything”.
The American president subsequently affirmed, May 23that an agreement with Iran “is getting very close”, while estimating the chances of a “good” agreement or a resumption of war at “50-50”.
New month, new declarations? THE June 3 last Donald Trump told journalists in the Oval Office that negotiations with Iran could be concluded “this weekend”, between June 6 and 7 SO.
But noted this Tuesday June 9after more than 100 days of war and 78 after his first message of an imminent agreement, that the United States was actually entering “the final efforts of what is going to be a very, very good agreement”, which will be concluded within “two to three days”. We’ll meet at the end of the week, the 39th time will (perhaps) be the right one.
