The members of the Association for the Protection of the Industrial Heritage of the Decazevillle-Aubin Basin met for their general meeting. A review of the past year has been carried out. A moment of discussion which allowed us to plan for the future.
“2025 was a great year for our museum. The office can be very satisfied with what has been achieved and in particular with the exhibition “Jean Ségalat, 2nd season”, which showed that we could have this active role in cultural and Decazeville memorial.
The image of our museum was, I think, further strengthened by this proposal, especially since it filled a gap. Indeed, Jean Ségalat has carried out sociological work on our industrial era, particularly on the 1950s which he rendered so well”, comments Jean-Pierre Vaur, president of ASPIBD, during the moral report.
The mining and industrial heritage museum, in the Center area in Decazeville, managed by ASPIBD, was well attended. Volunteers welcomed 2,270 visitors: 1,250 individual visitors (museum open 100 days, representing approximately 400 hours of reception); 520 group visitors (38 groups welcomed); 500 schools.

To this must be added the people who came during the guided tours organized by the community tourist office, i.e. 719 people, as well as the public recorded during the activities, i.e. 811 people, which brings the total to 3,800 visitors for the year 2025.
An important cultural role
“27% come from the basin, 14% come from the rest of Aveyron and 59% come from outside the department,” adds secretary Jean-Luc Rol. The hiring of Caroline and the help of the volunteers ensured a good reception, they are thanked here by the office. The museum organized (or in partnership) six cultural events: visits to the Paul-Ramadier college in Decazeville and Firmi on the theme “Industrial Revolution”; participation in “Mines de Jazz” Afters and support day for ASPIBD; signing sessions of the book “La Salle” with Gérard Pertus; opening of the Jean Ségalat exhibition, presented from July to the end of September; European Heritage Days with the Memoria Andando association; conference “The strike of autumn 1902” led by Pol Gallé. Let us add that the tedious work of archiving documents continued throughout the year thanks to the involvement of Jean Rudelle and Pol Gallé.
In a future article, we will present upcoming events and projects.
