War in Ukraine: Sale of fuel suspended in annexed Crimea

Fact of the day

Russian strikes in the Ukrainian regions of Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk left three people dead. On the Russian side, five people were killed in the Kerch Peninsula, local authorities announced.

“One person was killed and nine injured” in bombings, drone attacks and artillery fire against three districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region, the head of the local military administration, Oleksandr Ganzha, wrote on Telegram.

His Poltava counterpart, Vitali Dyakivnich, indicated that two people had died, including one in hospital, after an attack on Saturday evening, giving the figure of 13 injured.

A Ukrainian drone attack left four dead and 28 injured on the Kerch Peninsula. One person died in drone attack on ferry Panagia who was crossing between the Temryuk district and the Kerch Peninsula, according to the authorities of the Krasnodar Peninsula.

Today’s statement

« Fuel will be distributed only to public services that ensure the vital functioning and security of the Republic of Crimea. »

This was announced by the head of the Republic of Crimea, a territory annexed by Russia in 2014, Sergei Aksyonov, on the Telegram network. The sale of fuel was suspended on Sunday at service stations in annexed Crimea, after Ukrainian drone attacks which left five people dead, including one on a ferry, in the Kerch Peninsula (see “The fact of the day”).

The number of the day

2.200. This is the number of attack drones launched by Russia, “just this week,” according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The latter adds that the Russians also threw “more than 1,800 guided aerial bombs and 87 missiles of different types against Ukraine” over the same period.
