The death scene in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is one of the most tragic endings in drama. A performance by The Imperial Russian Ballet at the Bornova Open Air Theater in Turkey’s Izmir province turned from tragedy to comedy when a ginger cat relaxed onto the stage. A very funny moment that you can see in the video above.
It was towards the end of the performance, while the actors were playing the most dramatic scene of the play, that a cat entered the stage and disrupted the fateful moment where, after having simulated its death using a filter to escape At her forced marriage, Juliette wakes up and discovers the lifeless body of Romeo, who took the life thinking his sweetheart was really dead.
While Romeo lies on the ground, the feline begins to play with the hair of the dancer Pedro Seara, motionless and feigning death. The ballerina Lara Korss remained in character and continued to play despair despite this funny situation which made the audience laugh. When Juliette ends her life to join her beloved, we can see the animal washing itself on the chair next to the actors.
During the salute at the end of the ballet, the cat was also entitled to his applause. This one was carried in the arms of several dancers. History does not say whether he joined the troop, however.
And since the world revolves around cats…
