It is unbearable to see US imperialism deciding the destiny of the peoples of the planet. Let’s not let him do it!
Today he is trying to get rid of the war in Iran that he himself provoked in concert with the far-right Israeli government, which he was unable to win. The only consequence is the strengthening of the theocratic dictatorship, which bloodily suppressed the uprising of the Iranian people last December and January. The announcement of a “memorandum” of understanding should open the way towards lasting peace based on respect for international law.
The criminal government of Benjamin Netanyahu, threatened by the prospect of general elections in Israel, is accelerating its racist and expansionist headlong rush. He illustrates this by extending the invasion and bombings against Lebanon, by reoccupying part of the Gaza Strip, by doing everything to strangle the Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
These are the people who are victims of imperialist policies which trample on international law: the Iranian people who pay the price for the damage caused to the country’s productive apparatus; the Palestinian people who are suffering from Netanyahu’s genocidal war in Gaza and ethnic cleansing and a real siege in the West Bank; the Lebanese people who are forced by Netanyahu to evacuate the south of the country and who suffer the bombing of Beirut; and all the nations of the region, including the Israeli people, who are suffering the consequences of the Netanyahu government’s headlong rush.
The PCF reaffirms its solidarity with the peoples victims of these policies and with the communist and progressive forces who act for peace, the sovereignty of the peoples and respect for international law.
– with the PLO, the sole representative of the Palestinian people and with the Palestinian communists for the concrete establishment of a State of Palestine alongside Israel;
– with the Toudeh Party of Iran, the organizations of the Iranian left, the social organizations which fight for respect for the territorial integrity of the country and so that the Iranian people can as quickly as possible get rid of the theocracy in power and build their democratic future;
– with Israeli communists and the peace movement in Israel to end the Netanyahu government and its policies.
He calls on the French government:
– to demand the definitive cessation of US and Israeli military operations in the region, as well as the opening, under the aegis of the UN, of a negotiation process involving all the states concerned with a view to establishing a just and lasting peace;
– not content with banning the far-right Israeli Minister Smotrich and individual sanctions against settlers. He must act for economic, commercial and diplomatic sanctions and for the suspension of the EU-Israel association agreement as long as the Israeli power does not respect international law and does not abolish the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners.
– to act to respect the right of the Lebanese people to live in peace throughout their territory. He must demand an extension and transformation of the mandate of UNIFIL to make it a peacekeeping force.
– to contribute to the establishment, under the aegis of the UN, of a zone without nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction
The PCF is calling for demonstrations on these bases next weekend throughout the country.
