The head of Iranian diplomacy announced the probable start of in-depth discussions with the United States on Friday, the scheduled day of the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding found between the two countries after more than three months of war.

“Probably on Friday, in a location that remains to be determined (…) a new round of negotiations between Iran and the United States aimed at reaching a final agreement will begin,” declared Minister Abbas Araghchi during a meeting with foreign diplomats broadcast on the state television.

The head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Araghchi, insisted on Tuesday on the importance of ending the war in Lebanon between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah, within the framework of the memorandum of understanding concluded with Washington. “This is undoubtedly the most important issue of the protocol: the announcement of the immediate and permanent end of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” the minister declared during a meeting with foreign diplomats broadcast on state television.

Iran/United States agreement: Iranian chief negotiator Ghalibaf will attend the ceremony

The head of the Iranian negotiating team, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, will attend the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington to end the war in the Middle East, Iranian diplomacy said on Tuesday.

On the American side, Vice-President JD Vance will be present to represent the United States, while “for Iran, it will be Mr. Ghalibaf”, declared the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, quoted by the state television.

“The signing will take place in Switzerland” a priori on Friday, “but the exact location has not yet been determined”, he said, confirming that “the next round of negotiations would begin immediately afterwards”.
