“A bubble of beauty in the heart of Aix”: Andréa Ferréol unveils the exceptional program for the 20th anniversary of Flâneries d’Art

For two decades, the Flâneries d’Art Contemporain have transformed old Aix into an open-air gallery. But for this 20th anniversary, the ambition is going up a notch.« All arts are represented »enthuses Andréa Ferréol at Laurent Coureau’s microphone. Painting, sculpture, literature, opera and even street art: the city of Roy René will vibrate for two days.

 

Three secret gardens in the city center

The originality of the festival lies in its setting: three private gardens nestled in theCounty Townbehind the town hall and near the cathedral (rue Mérindol, rue des Étuves and rue des Guerriers).« These are not the gardens of the Mazarin district that we already know, it is the other side of Aix, more secret »specifies the organizer.

In these green settings, 16 exhibitors (ceramists, painters, jewelry designers) will meet the public. Among them, an unusual curiosity: a sculptor who works with…spider webs.

 

Jean-François Zygel and David Foenkinos headliners

The festival hits hard with prestigious guests. From Opera to Street Art: the mix of genres

Faithful to her spirit of openness, Andréa Ferréol has concocted a daring mix of genres:

• Photography:Â A tribute to the great fashion photographer Peter Knapp.

• Danse : Une performance du Ballet Preljocaj Saturday late afternoon.

• Musique : Opera with Mélodie Louledjian (Saturday) and Faustine de Monès (Sunday).

• Humour : La présence de la célèbre marseillaise Zize du Panier.

• Street Art :Â Interventions by famous artistsM. ChatandC215.

Even children are not forgotten with a dedicated show,“A little brother like no other”on Sunday morning.

 

A free and supportive festival

Despite a program worthy of the biggest festivals, the entrance remainscompletely free and free. « I want art to be accessible to everyone, that people are not afraid to open the door to a garden »insists Andréa Ferréol.
