Calogero shared Hortense d’Estève’s life for several years. Married for seven years, they had two daughters: Ninaborn in 2003 and Romy, born in 2006. A story that did not seem obvious to the producer, as she tells it this Wednesday, June 10 in the podcast Against the light : “I come from an aristo family basically, I am the last of five children. I had a life of two stages: one with a somewhat difficult education, but which provided a foundation, then after my baccalaureate, When I went to Paris, I entered a cultural and artistic world.” Thus, when she worked at M6 Music, she came across Calogero: “The moment I met Calo, he came out of his Charts group when he was very young. (…) He was not very well known. Calo had passed me once or twice and one day, he took my hand and said: ‘You know very well that something is going to happen between us’.“
Calogero and Hortense d’Estève share “the same human values”
Although coming from different backgrounds, their story thus appears obvious to the interpreter of In Weightlessness: “I organized parties once a month. Pascal Obispo came with Calo. I think it was pretty immediate, especially him. I know he had something about him, anchored, it was destined. It’s very healthy, it’s very cute. We were young, we were babies. There were very strong family values but we didn’t come from the same background. But I never doubted the immense artist he was.” They get married, causing astonishment on the part of his parents: “I proposed a marriage that was different from what they expected. But the values were common. What brings us together are human values.” Finally, they separate after seven years, despite conventions: “I had this weight of education which kept telling me: ‘We’re not getting divorced!'”. A separation which “never broke the healthy relationship we had.”
Calogero admits “getting tired very quickly” in love
Calogero then rebuilt his life alongside the singer and songwriter Marie Bastide, who also gave her two children: Pio (born in 2013) and Rita (born in 2016). They separated in September 2023. Interviewed by the magazine Ciné Télé Revue at the time of in rupturethe 54-year-old singer delivered his vision of love. “I have always felt different compared to all the patterns given when you are a child, namely meeting your wife and getting married. I need the lack, in love. If I don’t have this lack, I get bored and I get tired very quickly”. And to add: “A lot of people who stay in a classic pattern are bored to death and end up cheating on their wife or husband. Me, I need to create lackso that we can meet again. I think everyday life kills. But it’s personal.”
