The wait is soon over. The 2026 World Cup starts this Thursday, and with it its barbecue evenings which risk stretching into the night due to the time difference with the United States, Mexico and Canada.
But everything will not happen at home or in the many bars which will broadcast the World Cup matches. It will be possible, in fact, to encourage the French team… from a movie theater, thanks to an initiative called “Cinéfoot” and launched on the occasion of the American tour in March (Brazil-France and Colombia-France). The device “convinced 88% of spectators surveyed, who wanted to relive the experience during the World Cup“, details the FFF in a press release.
Access to these screenings will however be by invitation and will concern “amateur football players, volunteers, educators, managers, referees, young licensees“but also the”partners and members of the French team ecosystem” précise la Fédération.
“With Cinéfoot, the French Football Federation is very happy to invite the football community – in other words primarily FFF licensees, its clubs, volunteers, educators, managers and all the enthusiasts who bring amateur football to life on a daily basis – to experience the matches of the French team in an unprecedented way during the World Cup. This initiative, free and original, will allow us to share the passion for the World Cup collectively, throughout the country.rejoices the president of “3F” Philippe Diallo. With the help of UGC, CGR and M6, we will create, from Lille to Marseille, via Paris, Lyon, Nantes, Bordeaux or Caen, popular, immersive, unifying and, hopefully, festive events, which bring people together around the French team and extend the emotion of football well beyond the field, to those who will experience this World Cup from France.“
Nine cinemas are affected by the operation, including the CGR of Vitrolles.
