Around Didier Compagnon, president of the association, and Georges Nicoleau, the participants retraced the main stages in the history of the Adrcc. Among the guests were Patricia Chaigneault, mayor of Cozes, Messrs Voloscak and Héraud, as well as Messrs Perrochain, Tessier and Termet, members of the previous municipal council.

Created to defend the interests of local residents, the association has been mobilized over the years on several important issues for the region. Among these are the question of the railway line, which is still not disused, as well as concerns linked to the risks of water pollution caused by the bringing of so-called inert waste into the Grézac quarry.

But the file which most strongly marked the action of the Adrcc undoubtedly remains that of the Cozes bypass. A long-term fight which mobilized the association for many years. “Without taking advantage of the success of this project discussed in 2009 at the Departmental Council, we believe that the Adrcc was useful in the realization of this work. Even if we only had 1% influence on decision-makers, we proudly claim it,” emphasized Didier Compagnon.

If the association will now disappear on the administrative level, its action and its commitment will be remembered. The numerous testimonies collected during this final meeting highlighted the role played by the Adrcc in local life and in the dialogue between residents and decision-makers.
