Destined to ascend the Spanish throne following her father, Felipe VI, Leonor serves as a model heir, despite her young age. Barely out of high school, the princess joined the army for three years of special training, allowing her to spend a year in each army corps. After the army and the navy, the 20-year-old young woman is now familiar with the skies in the air force.
Now considered a confirmed military student, Leonor reached a new milestone on May 30, by attending Armed Forces Day for the first time. Celebrated every year since 1978, the event pays homage to Saint Ferdinand, the patron saint of the Spanish military. The princess was able to reunite with her parents, Felipe and Letizia, in the city of Vigo which, this year, had been designated to host the event.
While the queen had chosen to recycle her blue Juan Vidal dress, already seen during the 2023 national holiday, Leonor appeared dressed in her air force student uniform. His father, for his part, had worn an army uniform. Throughout the ceremony, father and daughter adopted a common position, standing at attention in front of their peers, before exchanging knowing glances.
Leonor increasingly involved in the monarchy
If this appearance at “DiFAS26″ was a first, but it is not Leonor’s first fashion show. In January, the young woman notably attended military Easter and is also a regular at the national holiday. Taming better and better his role as future reinethe young woman should also be highlighted next week, during the Pope’s visit to Spain.
A highlight surely desired by his parents, currently alone to embody the Spanish Crown, but also by his grandfather, the former king Juan Carlos. In an interview in April, the ex-sovereign declared that his granddaughter “should be more highlighted” because “It gives a very good image of the monarchy.”
