Chinese giant Tencent Music Entertainment invests in the agency behind KPop Demon Hunters, The Black Label

The Black Label has just raised around 74 million euros in a Series B financing round. This operation shows that major international investors are increasingly interested in the Korean music industry and K-pop.

According to Bloomberg, the fundraising reached around 120 billion won. Several important players participated in this operation, including Krafton, the creator of the game PUBG: Battlegroundsand Tencent Music Entertainment Group, the largest music streaming service in China.

Thanks to this financing, The Black Label is now valued at approximately 607 million euros (1,000 billion won). The investor Saehan Ventures, already present in the capital, also renewed its support.

The agency’s CEO Jung Kyoung In called this milestone an important moment for the company’s future. “This is a solid foundation for the company to move forward and become a global entertainment player.”he declared, according to Bloomberg.

Created in 2015 by producer Teddy Park, known for his work with BLACKPINK and BIGBANG, The Black Label has gradually established itself in the K-pop landscape. It split from YG Entertainment in 2020 to become an independent label.

Today, he manages artists like BLACKPINK’s Rosé, BIGBANG’s Taeyang, Jeon Somi, as well as newer groups like MEOVV and AllDay Project. The label also gained visibility thanks to its participation in the soundtrack of KPop Demon Hunters.

The animated film from Sony Pictures Animation became the most-watched film in Netflix history after its release in June 2025. It went on to win several major awards, including the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

The soundtrack, distributed by Visva and Republic Records, was also a great success. The song Golden reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2025.

For Tencent Music, this investment is part of a development strategy in K-pop. The Chinese company is strengthening its presence in the sector, particularly after purchasing shares in SM Entertainment from HYBE for around 166 million euros.

This operation is also accompanied by projects to create new idol groups intended for the Chinese market. Tencent also owns shares in YG Entertainment and Kakao, strengthening its influence in the Korean industry.

For its part, Krafton is looking to expand beyond video games. The group invests in entertainment, notably with the purchase of ADK Holdings for around 476 million euros, as well as in the Spoon Labs platform.

According to Bloomberg, this partnership could make it possible to create projects between music, video games and other digital content, using the label’s artists in different formats.
