Serbia was chosen for this new edition of the International Agricultural Show because of its long agricultural tradition, fertile land, favorable climatic conditions and marked regional diversity. Its fruit production represents one of the most important segments of its agriculture and, for decades, Serbia has been one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of raspberries, plums, morello cherries and blackberries. In addition to fruit growing, the eastern country has a very developed field crops sector, based on the production of corn, wheat, soya, sunflower and barley.

Serbia, an agricultural giant

With more than 3.4 million hectares of exploited agricultural land and more than 500,000 farms, Serbia is among the most important food producers in South-Eastern Europe. Agriculture represents 3.6% of GDP, while the value of agri-food exports reached 5.2 billion euros in 2025, confirming the strong export potential and competitiveness of Serbian agriculture on the international market. In recent years, French companies have made significant investments in the agriculture and agri-food industry sectors in Serbia. Among the most important investments are the Lactalis Group / Somboled in Sombor, Bongrain SA / Mlekoprodukt in Zrenjanin and Kikinda, the Soufflet Group / Maltinex in Bać ka Palanka as well as Sicoberr in Kraljevo.

Future partnerships envisaged between France and Serbia

The Republic of Serbia is deeply honored to participate as Guest Country of Honor at the Paris International Agricultural Show in 2027, relate Dragan GlamoÄ ić, minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. This recognition represents an important opportunity to highlight the strength of Serbian agriculture, the quality of our agri-food industry as well as the richness of our gastronomic heritage, while further strengthening the long-standing partnership between Serbia and France. Through its participation in SIA 2027, Serbia wishes to promote its agricultural products, its innovation and its investment potential, while encouraging new partnerships with French and international companies. At the same time, as Serbia prepares for EXPO 2027 Belgrade, we warmly invite French partners and companies to join us in Belgrade and take part in the largest international event ever held in the Western Balkans region.
