War in the Middle East: Israeli army vows to intensify targeted ground operations in Lebanon

“Eyal Zamir, chief of staff of the Israeli army, stated in a communiqué on Sunday 22 March that ‘the operation against the terrorist organization Hezbollah is just beginning.’ The Israeli army will ‘intensify its targeted ground operations’ and strikes in Lebanon, warned Lieutenant-General Eyal Zamir.”

“The operation against the terrorist organization Hezbollah is just beginning (…) It is a long-term operation and we are prepared for it,” Eyal Zamir affirmed in a statement.”

“We are now preparing to intensify targeted ground operations and strikes, according to a structured plan. We will not stop until the threat is pushed back from the border and long-term security is ensured for the residents of northern Israel,” he added.”

Context: The Israeli army announced its intention to escalate operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Fact Check: The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported 1,029 people killed since the clashes between Israel and Hezbollah began on March 2, including 118 children and 40 healthcare workers. Additionally, there have been 2,786 injuries and over a million displaced people.
