The Departmental Council is launching the new edition of its flagship event dedicated to street arts. On the program: 48 free events spread across 18 municipalities to celebrate urban creativity in all its forms.
It is a breath of youth and energy that is about to sweep Haute-Garonne. From May 26 to 31, 2026, Urban Cultures Week returns for a 7th edition focused on eclecticism and accessibility. With nearly 50 meetings scheduled, the event confirms its territorial roots by inviting itself to Toulouse as well as to the rural communes of the department.
A program between heritage and exploration
This year again, the festival is playing the card of mixing genres. If the pillars of hip-hop (dance, rap, graffiti) remain at the heart of the project, the 2026 edition ventures towards new horizons. The public will be able to discover bridges between contemporary dance and hip-hop, learn about house dance or vibrate to the rhythm of roller dance.
From visual arts to board sports (skate, BMX, parkour) to beatbox, the plurality of disciplines offered testifies to the vitality of a booming local scene.
Headliners and a social vocation
The department can count on renowned ambassadors. Among the guests, we find the world beatbox champions Osy, Tunecinoo and Kenzen, the rapper Leon Lia and the dance companies Sara Ducat and AJDR.
Beyond the performance, the festival reaffirms its solidarity dimension. Of the 48 meetings, 23 cultural actions are specifically designed for middle school students, young people in child welfare or people with disabilities. A political desire to make culture accessible to all, without distinction.
“Before” evening during Museum Night
On Saturday May 23, Galerie 3.1 hosts the festival’s “Before” evening from 7 p.m., with a house dance workshop and Jam your body, led by the collective 31 In Da House. The public is accompanied by seasoned dancers around clubbing dances – house, hustle, waacking…
At 8 p.m., as part of the Nuit des Musées, the exhibition “Au Moment Wanted”, currently at Gallery 3.1, is transformed and becomes a dance clubbing space open to all.
Meet at 7 rue Jules Chalande – Toulouse. Workshop upon registration, limited places: 05 34 45 58 30 and contact.dav@cd31.fr
The highlight: the Block Party on May 31
To end this week in style, we will meet on Sunday May 31 on the Esplanade Roguet, in Toulouse. From 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., the space will transform into a huge “Block Party” hosted by DJ Mayday and MC Lu’k. On the menu for this explosive finale: free djing, custom, collage and skateboarding workshops; shows with performances by the Pile’s and Dreamy companies. Finally, entertainment with open mic with K7, dance jam by Le Lab and a rollerblading hike organized by the Roulez Rose association.
Since its launch, Urban Cultures Week has already attracted more than 19,000 spectators. A success which proves that the street is a true open-air artistic scene.
